We are looking for a Hotel Maintenance Assistant to join MEDINE GROUP | Tamarina Golf & Spa Boutique Hotel
A Hotel Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the maintenance team in ensuring that all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems are functioning properly and safely. The role involves performing routine inspections, basic repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities. The assistant helps maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and comfort for guests by promptly addressing maintenance issues such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting problems. The position requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform general basic electrical installations, replace of bulbs & electrical equipment and research of fault on circuits.
- Perform general plumbing duties including basic installation, unblocking of pipes, replacement of taps and faulty equipment.
- Perform servicing, testing, repairs of pumps and generators and various electrical equipment.
- Perform carpentry repairs.
- Perform preparatory work for maintenance activities, including gathering equipment, materials and supplies, loading and unloading materials, and laying out materials and equipment for projects.
- Deliver maintenance services to resident such as electrical, plumbing and other handyman jobs.
- Perform routine inspections of guest rooms, hallways, public areas, and hotel facilities to identify maintenance issues.
- Respond quickly to maintenance requests from guests and hotel staff.
- Assist in preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment and systems operate efficiently.
- Maintain and repair hotel fixtures such as doors, windows, locks, lighting, and furniture.
- Support maintenance of air conditioning, heating, and ventilation systems.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety standards and hotel policies.
- Keep maintenance tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Report major repair needs or safety hazards to the maintenance supervisor.
- Assist with installation of new equipment, appliances, or fixtures when required.
- Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and storage rooms.
- Participate in emergency repairs and maintenance situations when necessary.
CANDIDATE’S PROFILE :
Qualifications Required:
- Basic technical training or certification in maintenance, electrical work, plumbing, or a related field is an advantage.
Experience Required:
- Previous experience in building maintenance, hotel maintenance, or a similar role is preferred.
Key competences (Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, Behaviours):
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and general repair work.
- Ability to use hand tools and basic maintenance equipment safely.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Physically fit and able to lift, carry, climb ladders, and perform manual tasks.
- Basic knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures
