Uniciti pursues its development, fuelled by its certificate, recently obtained in October 2017.

Fulfilling all requirements of the Board of Investment, Medine Group was presented with its Smart City Certificate last October, marking a major milestone in the history of the Group and a gratifying achievement after more than ten years of hard work and effort put in by the Medine Property Business unit.

Since early 2000, Medine Group engaged in the strategic thinking on its activities spanning over its 10,000 hectares landbank. This deep reflection led the group to engage as from 2005, in the development of a Master Plan, driven by the ambition to create a new city within the Flic en Flac, Cascavelle and Bambous area. In line with the government’s vision in 2012 to position Mauritius as a knowledge hub, the group therefore anchored its development around the setting up of a smart city where Education and Higher Education in particular would lie at the core of its development through the creation of an integrated and international campus, based on a Live-Work-Enjoy & Learn philosophy.

Ever since the legal framework around the Smart City scheme was established by government authorities in 2015, Medine Group received its Letter of Comfort in December 2015, followed by a Letter of intent in December 2016.

The Smart City certificate asserts the group’s strategic thinking to develop its city sustainably, and putting Education and Higher Education particularly as the main pillar of development towards a knowledge-based economy geared towards Africa.
