Uniciti marks the start of a new era for the Medine group

On the 7th of September, our group proudly unveiled our new Smart City to our employees, the authorities, the press and the general public. The vision, name and logo of “Uniciti” were revealed last Thursday in the presence of the Prime Minister, the Honourable Pravind Kumar Jugnauth. Medine’s new Smart City extends over 823 acres between Bambous, Cascavelle and Flic-en-Flac on the West Coast of Mauritius. It is part of a strategy adopted in the early 2000’s to diversify the group’s activities and its 1000 hectares of land. As a result of its careful planning and Live-Work-Enjoy & Learn approach, Uniciti is positioned as a smart, integrated and connected city that combines sustainable, ongoing development with a central focus on Education and more particularly higher education.

Thierry Sauzier, the group’s CEO, explained that “the spirit of Uniciti has emerged around the virtuous circle of the knowledge economy. Since September 2017, Middlesex University Mauritius is hosting its first academic year on the Uniciti campus, bringing no fewer than a thousand students to the city. A total of 1,700 students are now attending the Education hub’s various renowned tertiary schools and Universities and are all benefiting from world class facilities such as student residences and restaurant, as well as a state of the art sport centre.”
