Uniciti Education Hub welcomes the first Makerspace Lab of Mauritius

Artificial intelligence, augmented reality as well as the most powerful computers on the market with 12-core super computers, a 3D printer, virtual reality goggle or a drone. The Pierrefonds Campus of Uniciti Education Hub welcomes an innovative project in Mauritius: a Makerspace lab entirely dedicated to technological innovation. The official inauguration took place last Tuesday 4th of December and led by Accenture.

The implementation of the Makerspace Lab within the Pierrefonds campus is part of a process to prepare students for future jobs, as the technological landscape is in perpetual evolution, says Laurent Couraud, Senior Manager at Accenture Technology Mauritius. Several projects are already in development by students, including chatbots coupled with artificial intelligence, applications driven via Kinect, simulations in augmented reality or 3D printing.

“Moreover, several sessions already took place around design thinking or agile methodology,” adds Laurent Couraud. “In the coming months, we will focus on projects directly inspired by the professions of the Medine Group. This will also enable students to identify real issues and propose solutions that can be applied in the future. We are very happy to be the partner of Uniciti Education Hub and the Medine Group in this adventure.”

A lot more is in store over the next coming months, where students will be involved in specific projects of the Medine Group around these technologies and further on many other projects, engineered by Accenture.
