The fruits and vegetables of the cluster’s sustainable production approach, which were usually on sale in supermarkets can henceforth be ordered online and delivered at home. The whole process is subject to the application of a stringent sanitary protocol.

Challenging times call for ingenious solutions ! Whereas the fruit and vegetable produce of Les Jardins de Medine had, prior to the start of the COVID-19 national confinement, could only be purchased in supermarkets, they are henceforth also available for online purchase, including a home-delivery service. With the outbreak of the epidemic in Mauritius, the team of Medine Group’s Agriculture Cluster mobilised itself rapidly so as to be reactive and responsive considering the upheaval occurring in the field-to-consumer process, whereby the ensuing setting up of this innovative operational organisation.

Les Jardins de Medine’s e-market platform is very user-friendly – it allows consumers to place a one-click order for a basket containing 6 kilos of varied seasonal fruits and vegetables for a package price of Rs900. The basket contains pumpkin, potatoes, onions, carrots, bananas, papaya and sweet herbs. Any product unavailable at the packing time is replaced by another one, up to the total value of the basket.

For a start, Les Jardins de Medine’s home-delivery service covers the following localities: Bambous, Cascavelle, Uniciti, Flic en Flac, Wolmar, Henrietta, Pierrefonds, Roches Brunes, Albion, Tamarin, Rivière Noire, Quatre Bornes, Palma, Floréal, Curepipe, Moka, Rose Hill, Beau Bassin. Owing to the staff shortage right now, to make sure that all purchase orders can be effectively delivered to the customers’ doorsteps, les Jardins de Medine’s current home-delivery capacity is a maximum of 125 per day.
