Middlesex University Mauritius reinforces the Uniciti Education Hub

The official launch of Middlesex University Mauritius, one of the country’s most prominent tertiary institutions, was held on the 8th of November 2017 in the presence of the Honourable Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, Minister of Education, Higher Education, Human Resources and Research.

Outcome of a partnership between the Medine Group and Middlesex University Mauritius, Middlesex University has been operational since September. It is set over 2.5 hectares at the heart of Uniciti, the Medine Group’s integrated city. It marks the completion of the Uniciti Education Hub, one of the Smart City’s flagship projects, which aims to position Uniciti as a centre for education in the Indian Ocean region and for Africa.

"Education and higher education in particular are at the heart of the Uniciti development. It is built around student life and will promote research, innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Stéphane Poupinel de Valencé, the Managing Director of Medine Property.

The new Middlesex campus is now welcoming close to 1000 students in addition to the 700 students already benefiting from the Education Hub’s world-class tertiary institutions such as Assas, Ensa, ESCP, ESSEC, Vatel or Sup info.

The Medine group aims to recruit for Higher Education on its own, 5,000 students by 2025, including 75% of foreigners, mainly from the African continent, and 25% of Mauritians.
